2017 Canada Summer Games Athlete Selection

 

During the 2016 sailing season, the Alberta Sailing Association (ASA) will be selecting representatives to compete at the 2017 Canada Summer Games.  If you have any questions please contact Fie Hulsker at info@albertasailing.com,  on her cell at 403-827-5578 or at home at 403-271-2445.

 

Individuals and teams interested in competing in the Canada Summer Games in 2017 must provide written notice via email to info@albertasailing.com.  Notice must be received on or before June 01, 2016.  If you apply, a confirmation notice from the Alberta Sailing Association will be sent to you, if you do not receive a reply conformation, please contact Fie Hulsker.

 

Age of participants:

 

Under 21 (No younger than 17) Male Category

Single-handed – Laser: 1 competitor per boat (individual competition)

Double handed – 29er: 2 competitors per boat (team competition)

 

Under 21 (No younger than 17) Female Category

Single-handed –Laser Radial: 1 competitor per boat (individual competition)

Double handed – 29er: 2 competitors per boat (team competition)

 

Para Sailing Mixed Category

Single-handed – 2.4m: 1 competitor per boat (individual competition)

 

Lasers /Laser Radial qualification Regattas for both Girls and Boys will be the 2016 WAVES regatta, in Vancouver,  the 2016 Ice Breaker Regatta iat Calgary Yacht Club, and SAILWEST in Gimli Manitoba. Total points achieved in each regatta will be added together and the sailors with the lowest point total will qualify for the Canada Summer Games.

 

Due to the limited availability of ASA 29er’s a match racing format will be followed to determine the successful qualifiers in 29er boys and girls.   The Match Racing Regatta will be held at a location and time TBD in June, 2016

 

If notice is given by only one entry in a category that entry will be acclaimed.

 

If no application is received in a category ASA will campaign to seek likely candidates. Selection of a successful candidate will be at the discretion of ASA.
