Laser Sailboats at the 2019 Newell Sailing Club regatta
Big prairie skies and an equally big Laser fleet at the 2019 Prairie Winds regatta

Congratulations and thank you to all the sailors who competed in this year’s Prairie Winds regatta at Newell Sailing Club from July 13-14! Race results are available to download from the NSC website here.

With a 68 boat fleet across all classes, Laser Standards and Radials together on the start line, and Optis on the main course, Prairie Winds made for an exciting weekend despite shifting conditions. Light winds and huge wind shifts kept both sailors and RC on their toes.

In addition, this year’s regatta was also the 50th annual Sea Spray Nationals. Here is to all our Sea Spray sailors, for keeping this Western Canadian class active! To read the Sea Spray class association’s blog post on the regatta, click here.

Thank you to all the volunteers and club members at Newell Sailing Club for their hard work and dedication to making Prairie Winds 2019 a great event! Next, we set our sights on the Provincial regatta at Wabamun Sailing Club from August 31-September 2, as the 2019 Alberta Series continues.
