Why Become a Member?
Alberta Sailing Association members are entitled to:
- Attend Alberta Sailing Association development clinics for sailing, racing, race management, and instructor certification;
- Compete in Sail Canada and International Sailing Federation (ISAF) sanctioned regattas;
- Vote through their member clubs at Alberta Sailing Association and Sail Canada general meetings; and
- Be eligible for election to the Alberta Sailing Association Board of Directors.
In addition, your membership to the Alberta Sailing Association has widespread benefit across the Alberta sailing community and beyond. By becoming a member of the Alberta Sailing Association, you:
- Support clubs across Alberta through the Alberta Sailing Association’s involvement with race organization and coaching;
- Support development programs for sailors, racers, cruisers, race officers and instructors;
- Support Canada’s National Sailing Team;
- Support the voice of recreational sailors at Department of Transport regulation meetings; and

Individuals
The most common way to become a member of the Alberta Sailing Association is through one of our affiliated sailing clubs. Clubs are the backbone of the Alberta sailing community. If you are a member of an Alberta Sailing Association affiliated club, your Alberta Sailing Association membership fees are collected through your club membership and fee process. Clubs
Membership to an ASA member club includes membership to both the Alberta Sailing Association and to Sail Canada.
Alberta Sailing Association (ASA) member clubs must be:
- Formally incorporated under the Societies Act of Alberta; and
- Have a minimum of 10 Active Participant members of the Alberta Sailing Association.

Organizations
The Alberta Sailing Association supports a number of smaller, informal sailing organizations. These organizations must have a minimum of 5 Active participant members of Alberta Sailing and Sail Canada, and they carry one vote each at the Alberta Sailing Association and Sail Canada General meetings. Such groups include class associations, small unregistered organizations, and any other collection of dedicated sailors with a common interest in promoting Sail to Win and Sail for Life.
