ASA Training Camps

The Alberta Sailing Development Program was created to promote and strengthen the Youth sailors in Alberta. These Clinics will develop the sailors boat handling skills, knowledge and confidence on the water. Our coaches will provide them the tools and knowledge to be able to deal with many different scenarios on the water. Our aim is to develop the Alberta sailors to have the ability to be one with their boat – an extension of their body – to sail their boat on what we call a ‘knife edge’.

Alberta Sailing has been able to coordinate a base at Sylvan Lake. The Location is Camp Kuriakos, which has Kitchen and cabin facilities to accommodate the sailors & chaperones.

The Clinic will be on the 3rd – 6th of August. The sailors will arrive on the Wednesday, the 2nd of August, in the afternoon/evening. This will be the time to prepare their boats for the next day and settle in for the night.

We will have volunteers, John and Stace, from Alberta Sailing, to support us over the days. Stace will be leading a rules and protest afternoon. This will be great for our sailors to understand how a protest hearing works and having confidence going ‘into the room’.

There will be a second ASA Training Camp for Optimist sailors taking place August 16-18, 2023 and all Alberta Opti sailors are welcomed.
